Tata Indica Vista Electric
Tata Motors Limited, one of the most prominent car makers of India, is working on its electrically driven compact car, Tata Indica Vista Electric. The concept model has already been showcased at international automotive events like Delhi Auto Expo 2010 and 79th Geneva Motor Show. Tata Indica Vista Electric is being developed at Tata Motors European Technical Centre, the subsidiary research centre based in UK.
Tata Indica Vista, the hatchback model that received an overwhelming customer response and bagged several prestigious industry awards, will be equipped with an electric motor in the upcoming vehicle. Owing to assimilation of power-packed batteries, Tata Indica Vista Electric should be able to deliver performance at par with gasoline and diesel variants of hatchbacks in India.
It will be the second electric car of India after Reva's G-Wiz, which is priced much lower than the upcoming model from Tata Motors. However, it will appeal to a larger target audience due to the familiarity its familiarity in the market and the proven performance of its predecessor.
Engines & Specifications of Tata Indica Vista Electric
Tata Indica Vista Electric is expected to be powered by an advanced Prem Magnet Motor, super polymer lithium ion battery type, which is developed by TM4. It is believed that the company will import the semi-knocked down kits from Norway in order to assemble the vehicle wholly in India. The electric battery is widely acknowledged for high energy density, lack of thermal runaway and light-weight. Electric variant of Indica Vista is expected to deliver peak power of 74 bhp at 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 160 Nm at 1750 rpm.
Performance of Tata Indica Vista Electric
Unlike Reva's G-Wiz, first electric motored powered vehicle in India, Tata Indica Vista Electric delivers splendid on-road performance. Powered by an advanced engine, Vista Electric accelerates from 0 to 60 kmph in less than 10 seconds and has top speed of 151 kmph. Moreover, its driving range is expected to be close to 200 km, with the battery taking 8 hours to recharge completely.
Exterior, Interior & Safety Features of Tata Indica Vista Electric
The five-door electric hatchback has same exteriors as its predecessor, Tata Indica Vista. Flowing lines across the body provides sporty appeal to the vehicle, with features like headlamp, grille, fog lamps and lower grille being other notable highlights. The interiors of Indica Vista Electric have ample seating space for accommodating four passengers. Dual tone theme with thin surface of floor beautifies its interiors. Other noteworthy interior features are rectangular A/C vents, three-spoke power steering, bottle holder and a modern central audio console loaded with multimedia features. For utmost safety of occupants, Tata Indica Vista is integrated with two safety airbags and adjustable seatbelts for passengers.
