Volvo V60 Plug-in Diesel Hybrid Priced $75,000
The official pricing for Volvo’s much awaited 2013 V60 Plug-inplug-indiesel hybrid has finally been unveiled today. Priced at $75,0, world’s first diesel Plug-inplug-inhybrid will go on sale in Europe in early 2012.
The car will come in only one color Electric Silver, and one fully-loaded Pure Limited specification. Visually, it is distinguished by aero-designed 17-inch wheels, integrated exhaust tailpipes, and some gloss black accents. So all in all, a very ordinary-looking car with a big boot for your stuff and a nice and comfy ride. Only 1,000 cars are planned to be manufactured with production to increase between 4,000-6,000 cars in model year 2014.
As for the technical details, the 2013 V60 plug-in diesel hybrid comes equipped with a five-cylinder 2.4-litre turbo diesel producing 215 hp and maximum torque is 440 Nm. The car has a six-speed automatic transmission. Coupled along is an electric motor producing 70 horsepower received from an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. According to Volvo, the V60 diesel plug-in hybrid can kick up to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds in Power mode. Also the fuel economy is 124 mpg, with CO2 emissions of just 49 g/km.
“Our Plug-in hybrid has gotten considerable attention since it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011. Now we’re taking the next step by presenting the production model, which is graced with a distinctive profile featuring a spectacular silver colour, an exclusive interior and generous standard equipment,” said Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.
Exteriors have been accentuated with 17-inch wheels, integrated exhaust tailpipes and a number of bodywork features in glossy black, such as the grille and the aerodynamic front spoiler.
Sophisticated technology in the car translates into one touch functionality that enables the driver to select out of the three driving modes by pressing any one of three buttons: Pure, Hybrid or Power. Other advanced features include digital Driver Information Monitor (DIM), smartphone mobile app to communicate with car and so on.
The V60 Plug-inplug-inhybrid will be launched in early 2012. Sadly, U.S. isn’t currently on the list of initial market launch of the car.
