Launched: Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8 G-HV at Rs.1,376,000


Japanese car giant Toyota today launched a cheaper variant of its Corolla Altis D segment sedan. The new variant comes with an automatic transmission and being called as 1.8 G-HV. The car’s seven speed automatic gearbox is mated to a 1.8 liter VVT petrol engine.
This variant is price at Rs.1,376,000 and is almost Rs.125,000 cheaper than top of the line automatic variant. The car also comes with a few upmarket features like a touchscreen DVD console with Bluetooth connectivity. However, features like electric seats, leather upholstery, Xenons with headlamp washers, retractable rear sun shade, start/stop button, smart entry and wooden wrap on steering wheel have been shown the door in interest of competitive pricing. Expect this budget end automatic variant of the car to battle it out against a host of auto tranny equipped D segment cars.

The official pricing for Volvo’s much awaited 2013 V60 Plug-inplug-indiesel hybrid has finally been unveiled today. Priced at $75,0, world’s first diesel Plug-inplug-inhybrid will go on sale in Europe in early 2012.
The car will come in only one color Electric Silver, and one fully-loaded Pure Limited specification. Visually, it is distinguished by aero-designed 17-inch wheels, integrated exhaust tailpipes, and some gloss black accents. So all in all, a very ordinary-looking car with a big boot for your stuff and a nice and comfy ride. Only 1,000 cars are planned to be manufactured with production to increase between 4,000-6,000 cars in model year 2014.
As for the technical details, the 2013 V60 plug-in diesel hybrid comes equipped with a five-cylinder 2.4-litre turbo diesel producing 215 hp and maximum torque is 440 Nm. The car has a six-speed automatic transmission. Coupled along is an electric motor producing 70 horsepower received from an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. According to Volvo, the V60 diesel plug-in hybrid can kick up to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds in Power mode. Also the fuel economy is 124 mpg, with CO2 emissions of just 49 g/km.
“Our Plug-in hybrid has gotten considerable attention since it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011. Now we’re taking the next step by presenting the production model, which is graced with a distinctive profile featuring a spectacular silver colour, an exclusive interior and generous standard equipment,” said Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.
Exteriors have been accentuated with 17-inch wheels, integrated exhaust tailpipes and a number of bodywork features in glossy black, such as the grille and the aerodynamic front spoiler.
Sophisticated technology in the car translates into one touch functionality that enables the driver to select out of the three driving modes by pressing any one of three buttons: Pure, Hybrid or Power. Other advanced features include digital Driver Information Monitor (DIM), smartphone mobile app to communicate with car and so on.
The V60 Plug-inplug-inhybrid will be launched in early 2012. Sadly, U.S. isn’t currently on the list of initial market launch of the car.

Save your pennies, R8 fans. Audi just announced a base price of $210,000 for the limited-edition GT Spyder version of its R8 supercar. Tack on an extra $1,200 for the destination fee and anywhere from $2,000-$3,000 for the gas-guzzler tax.
Audi says the hand-built droptop R8 goes from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, thanks to its 560-horsepower, 5.2-liter V-10. Its top speed is 197 mph. R8 GT Spyder-specific features include unique 19-inch wheels, carbon-fiber exterior mirrors and interior trim, aluminum doorsill inserts, R8 GT badge on the steering wheel, sport seats in Alcantara leather and a carbon-fiber spoiler.
Audi is producing 333 units, but only 50 of those will be for sale in the United States. Each car sold here will have its production number displayed on the gearshift. Customer deliveries begin this month.

American tuner Falcon Motorsports unveiled their Falcon F7 supercar at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show with a price tag around $225,000. This light weight super car is a rear wheel drive, powered by the tuned version of chevrolet’s 7.0 liter LS7 engine, that produces 620 horsepower and a peak torque of 600 pound feet. Since Falcon F7 super car body is made of carbon fiber, it weighs just 2785 pounds only. Falcon F7 sprints 0-60 Mph in just 3.3 seconds, while the top speed climbs to 200 Mph. Falcon F7 super car will be manufactured at the Falcon Motorsports unit located in Michigan.
