Do You Remember the Acura Corvette NSX Concept?

Or do you recall the HSC? Both were attempts by Acura to come up with a replacement for the original NSX, which was shelved in 2005.
Acura’s HSC, which was shown at the 2003 Tokyo show and later in Detroit, looked like a logical successor to the NSX. It updated the original NSX design themes with a nose shape that presaged the pointy snout still in use. The rear treatment was a bit off, but overall it was so good-looking and so promising that we figured it was a sure bet. Logical thinking called for another aluminum chassis with body panels in aluminum and carbon fiber. There was talk of a V-6 promised to have more than 300 bhp.
But the HSC didn’t happen.

Again in 2007, Acura teased us with a potential new NSX, this one pointed in a somewhat different direction. Called the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept, it had a “Keen Edge Design,” and used the pointed nose once again, but this time leading an overall shape that more reflected Corvette thinking than anything Acura. A long car at 181.5 in., it was hinted the engine would be a V-10 of some 500 bhp and likely have all-wheel drive. We estimated the car’s top speed at 200 mph and a price of some $150,000 to $200,000

But the AASCC didn’t happen.
Now we have another NSX concept, but you can expect this one will happen. Not only does it carry the name NSX, but Honda chairman and CEO Takanobu Ito has promised it will be built…and we’ll take him at his word.
