PayPal Expanding Mobile Payments to 2,000 Locations

PayPal Expanding Mobile Payments to 2,000 Locations

PayPal has decided to extend its mobile payment pilot program from the original 51 Home Depot stores to more than 2,000 locations with various retailers. PayPal is developing a mobile wallet appplication, which would be stored on a smartphone or a PayPal card. The program requires mobile device users to enter their phone number and a pin code associated with their PayPal account at the register. The mobile payment program is meant to counter some of the other mobile payment systems being developed by credit card companies and wireless network operators, such as Isis and Google Wallet. PayPal hopes to have the expansion completed by March, and is targeting 20 different retailers.
